School Resolution Committee (SRC) Update
This week the recommendation to merge St. Peter school with the St. Elizabeth/St. Robert Regional school beginning with the 2017/2018 school year was sent to the archdiocese for their review. We believe that this recommendation has the best promise of offering quality Catholic education to our school children at a reasonable cost. Two key objectives and the actions/activities supporting each objective include:
Objective: Reduce the cost of tuition for school families
Actions taken:
Consideration for an adjustment of school tuition for the 2017/2018 school year that reduces the cost for all families attending the regional school.
Development of an annual grant that reduces the cost of tuition for St. Peter parish families who send their children to the regional school.
PSR tuition coverage for parish families who cannot afford the regional school and choose to send their children to the combined St. Robert/
St. Peter Parish School of Religion (PSR).
Objective: Promotion of a Regional School model for St. Charles City and creation of a transition plan that minimizes the impact on our school families
Actions Taken:
The Regional school can accommodate all St. Peter students, allowing the students to be kept together with their current classmates.
Multiple private open house sessions of the Regional School have been held for St. Peter School families.
Private student shadow days have been scheduled at the Regional School for St. Peter students
Promoting a regional school model where parishes retain their parishioners and are not faced with another school closing.
