Congratulations to our First Holy Communicants and Confirmans
On Saturday, April 23rd, fourteen Second Graders of St. Peter Parish received their First Holy Communion at a special 10:00 a.m. Mass.
On Tuesday, May 10th, the Eighth Graders from Seton Regional Catholic School, Seton Regional Parish School of Religion, Sacred Heart Academy, and Home School student will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Archbishop Robert Carlson, Archbishop-emeritus of St. Louis, will come to St. Peter Church, to "call down the Gift of the Holy Spirit." It is a great honor to host this most extraordinary event of Sanctifying Grace in these Holy Days of Easter Festival.
Our students have been preparing for these Sacraments for some months. In truth, they have been in formation since the moment of their Baptism. We know that parents are the first teachers of their children in the ways of faith. Bringing the children to Mass every Sunday is essential. How else do we learn to come to Jesus? In addition, God Parents and Sponsors assist parents, serving as Catholic mentors for the children. Family members and friends flesh out the reality of living faith, hope and love day-to-day. Catechists and teachers provide information and training in faith-facts, liturgy, prayer, and service. All this lends height, width and depth to a soul, Baptized into the Body of Christ, nourished in Holy Communion, and Confirmed by the Holy Spirit.
All of St. Peter Parish celebrates with our Second and Eighth Graders, and their families, as they root and blossom, growing in knowledge, wisdom and grace. We hold them in our hearts and prayers, and ask God to gift us all with a fuller measure of the Holy Spirit, in these Easter days of holiness and grace.
