ALL THINGS NEW
Steadfast in Faith * Forward in Hope
Archbishop Mitchell Rozanski announced on Pentecost Sunday the results of our Archdiocesan Strategic Pastoral Planning Process: All Things New.
⁕ St. Peter Parish will remain unchanged regarding its present structure.
⁕ St. Francis of Assisi parish in Portage des Sioux will be amalgamated into St. Charles Borromeo Parish.
⁕ The Priests assigned to serving our Parishes:
1. Reverend James Theby, the new pastor.
2. The Reverend Christopher Schroeder, senior associate pastor.
3. The Reverend George Staley, part-time associate pastor; as well as part-time priest-chaplain for the Newman Center at Lindenwood University.
Let us pray for our priests, who begin their new assignments, August 1, 2023.
That means that these priests, serving as a pastoral team, will minister to The Catholic Churches in Historic Downtown St. Charles, extending over multiple campuses. Some aspects of administration will remain distinct, proper to each parish; while some aspects of parish ministry might be combined. All this will take shape over the coming weeks and months.
These are a few aspects of parish administration that will be distinct, though parallel:
ST. CHARLES BORROMEO CHURCH ST. PETER CHURCH
Annual Catholic Appeal Annual Catholic Appeal
Finance Committee Finance Committee
Grounds Keeping Property Maintenance
These are aspects of parish ministry, in both parishes, which might work well collaboratively:
ST. CHARLES BORROMEO CHURCH ST. PETER CHURCH
Worship / Liturgy Committee Liturgy Committee
Training of Liturgical Ministers Training Liturgical Ministers
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Pro-Family / Pro-Life Respect Life Committee
Society of St. Vincent De Paul Saint Vincent DePaul Society
Visiting the Sick & Homebound Homebound Ministry
Knights of Columbus Knights of Columbus
Ladies Sodality Saint Anne Sodality
Quilters Happy Hour Quilters
There are certain aspects of parish life and ministry that are done differently. These, when shared, can enhance the life, mission and vitality of all the Catholic Faithful as well as the entire community.

Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) Adult Faith Formation
Emmaus Retreats Men’s & Women’s Retreats

Special Needs Support Group Emergency Food Pantry
St. Charles Borromeo School St. Peter Early Learning Center
And of course…there is a whole lot more going on in our parishes! This is just a glimpse into some of the great things that Jesus is doing among us, in us, and through us. It also gives a little insight into how our priests and the future pastoral staff will work together to excite and enhance evangelization efforts throughout the region.
While this Strategic Pastoral Planning Process has been going on for two years, we are only now beginning the real work of ALL THINGS NEW. Let us remain Steadfast in Faith / Forward in Hope / United in Love.
Sincerely yours in Jesus,
Fr. John Seper
