ALL THINGS NEW – Steadfast in Faith - Forward in Hope

Strategic Pastoral Planning Initiative for the Archdiocese of St. Louis

This past week, we had our two Listening Sessions for St. Peter Church:

  1.  Monday, October 10, 2022 / 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Parish Center Gym

  2.  Wednesday, October 12, 2022 / 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Parish Center Gym

In total, there were approximately 400 people who attended!

In addition, in two weeks, all the material that was presented at these Listening Sessions will be available online, so that everyone will be able to review the material, pray, discern, and to offer comment/feedback.

This phase of collection feedback on proposed parish alignment/restructuring will be open until the end of this calendar year.  In addition, there will be surveys sent out to all School Families, to broaden the base of consultation on this very important aspect of Catholic catechesis / evangelization for our children.

As we continue this process, let us be ever more fervent in our prayer, seeking God’s Perfect Plan for our redemption and sanctification.  By now, I’m sure that these prayers are familiar.

Opening Prayer – at the beginning of Mass

Heavenly Father, you sent your Son Jesus as the first Evangelizer of the Good News.

Send for the power of the Holy Spirit upon the Church of St. Louis and grant us the gift of true discernment so we may do your will in all things.

Help us be totally free to follow wherever you lead us, totally generous to be good stewards of your many gifts, and totally passionate to suffer all in order to be more closely united to you.

Commissioned by your Son and empowered by the Spirit to “Go and Make Disciples of all Nations,” strengthen us by the power of your grace as we bring the Good News of Salvation into the lives of all those we touch, so that individual hearts and all of society may be converted to you and all things might be made new.

Inspired by the apostolic zeal of previous generations, as we begin the process of planning for the future, may our only desire be to do all things for the greater glory and honor of your name and for the good of your people in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Concluding the Prayer of the Faithful

Almighty God and Father, Send afresh Your Gift of the Holy Spirit upon the Church of St. Louis.

Grant us the grace of true discernment, so that all might be accomplished according to Your Most Holy Will.

Make All Things New, through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reign with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.  Amen

Closing Prayer – For our Listening Sessions

Jesus, You are the source of life, growth, and prosperity!

We in the Archdiocese of St. Louis Thank You for Your inspiration and guidance in our Archdiocesan journey.

As we plan for our future, God, our loving and gracious Father, lead us and guide us.

Strengthen us through the Eucharist to be more courageous And encourage us to be more humble

Inspire us with the Eucharist to be true witnesses of our Faith.

Stir the Spirit that dwells within us To open our hearts to be Your hands and voice in the world So that others will be drawn to You.

As we move forward, protect and strengthen our plans and efforts.

Let not failure discourage us nor success blind us.

At all times, lead us, Lord.  Amen.
